VIDEO: Unique Student Graduates from Highline College ‘Magna Cum Crabbe’

It’s graduation season, which means local students of all types, and, um…species are moving on to bigger and better things.

And that includes a special Des Moines resident named Ophelia, who graduated ‘Magna Cum Crabbe‘ from Highline College’s Marine and Science Technology (MaST) Center this last Saturday (June 9) – and we’ve got video of the very unique ceremony (pay close attention to around the 4:10 mark when she grabs a big rock crab):

“Many visitors watched on the two monitors and on a live webcast as the staff of the MaST escorted the octopus to the depths from where she came,” reads a note on MaST’s YouTube Channel. “When captured, it was 2 feet across. At release, the octopus was now over 6 feet! Very healthy and had no problem adapting back to her home waters.”

The Marine and Science Technology Center is located at 28203 Redondo Beach Drive South.
