Popular Exercise Class Moves to Accommodate Kids’ Programs

The Enhance Fitness program conducted locally at Des Moines Fieldhouse has adopted summer hours to accommodate the area’s children’s summer programs.

Beginning this Tuesday, June 19, the two exercise programs aimed at mature adults (most participants are 50+ although younger participants are welcome) will begin at 7:30 a.m, and 8:45 a.m.

The classes meet every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday year-round.

Exercise is recognized as one of the key ways to maintain good health and fitness as people age and has been found superior to medication for many conditions affecting mature adults. The Enhance Fitness program was developed jointly by the Centers for Disease Control -Prevention Division, University of Washington, Seattle Senior Services and Group Health Hospital as a safe and effective way to build aerobic stamina, strength, and improve balance and flexibility.

Classes are $4/session or available at a discounted monthly rate. Members of Group Health who are Medicare-qualified may attend at no charge.

The classes are sponsored by Des Moines Parks and Recreation and Senior Services – more information available here.
