Organizers Release Road Closure Info for Saturday’s Waterland Parade

Des Moines’ annual Waterland Parade will be this Saturday, July 21, with the children’s parade at 5:45 p.m. and the big event starting at 6 p.m., and the city has announced road closures for the day.

Closures will begin at 4:45pm on the day of the parade, with the following roads effected:

  • Marine View Drive: From 216th to 242nd will be closed from 4:45pm to 8:00pm (The Parade Route is 216th to 240th on Marine View Drive)
  • Kent Des Moines Road: From 16th Avenue South to Marine View Drive will be closed from 4:45pm to 8:00pm
  • Open access will be from 7th Avenue South to 216th.

Traffic Management will be supervised by the Des Moines Police Department. Please comply with officer’s instructions as they are concerned for the overall safety and success of the Parade.

Also, don’t forget the “Parade for Hunger” – help support The Des Moines Area Food Bank by bringing your non-perishable food donations. Hand your contributions to their float as it goes by you in the parade.
