People often ask, after seeing the “Market Tokens Available Here” signs around the Des Moines Waterfront Farmers Market grounds:

What are they and how do I get them?

If you’ve ever found yourself without cash or your check book while shopping at the market, just head over to the Information Booth and use your credit or debit card and get your $5 Market Tokens. It is just like going to a cash machine, only better, as there are no fees. There are very few farmers markets that offer this service to its customers. The tokens are treated just like cash by the vendors anywhere in the market, including the food court. If you find yourself going home with some left over, don’t worry, they are good throughout the season. It is a win-win for everyone as this convenience is not only good for the markets customers but, it also provides a very valuable service to the vendors in that they do not have to pay for a machine & service that accepts credit cards. It is just one more thing that makes the Des Moines Farmers Market unique amongst its peers. The Des Moines Farmers Market is held at the north marina, and runs from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturdays until the end of October. For more information, click here.]]>
