UPDATE TUESDAY 10/23/12 1:45 p.m.: Here’s an update on the lockdown of both Mt. Rainier High and Pacific Middle School in Des Moines Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 23) from Catherine Carbone-Rogers of the Highline School District:
“There was a report of a gun in a car in the student parking lot.
School was put in lockdown during a search of the car and search for the students alleged to be involved.
There was no gun in the car, but the school is in lockdown until the students are located.”
Also, according to Bob Bohl of the Des Moines Police Department:
Des Moines Police received a report of gun in a car in the student parking lot of Mt. Rainier High School located at 22450 19 Ave S. The school was placed in modified lockdown while we assisted in conducting a search for the weapon and the students alleged to be involved. No weapon was located in the vehicle but through a cooperative investigation with the Highline School District Security, we were able to locate the weapon off campus.
The Des Moines Police Department is continuing to investigate this incident for potential charges of bringing a firearm on school campus.
