Over 400 Coats Distributed to Needy Kids by Rotary Club of Des Moines

For the last two months, the Rotary Club of Des Moines has been collecting coats for the students of Midway Elementary, and on Tuesday night (Dec. 11) they distributed over 400 of them to needy kids.

“The place was packed and everyone went home with a coat!” Rotarian Lisa Meinecke told The Waterland Blog. “Over 400 were given out!”

Steve Swank, Community Service Chair of the Rotary Club of Des Moines, added:

“The response from the community was overwhelming. We had coats piled up at Corky Cellars, The Print Place and Midway Elementary! We just want to say thank you to everyone who helped keep our kids warm this winter.”
