Congrats to Mount Rainier junior Brittany McPhee, who has been named the state’s basketball player of the year.

“Brittany has helped take our team to another level. Her work ethic and dedication are off the charts, as is her basketball IQ,” said coach Bob Bolam. “She is a great role model.”

Brittany set school records with 783 points (27.0 average) and 96 blocks (3.1) this season, and also averaged 12.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 3.0 steals. Her career points (2,039), rebounds (1,040) and blocks (215) are also school marks.

Brittany was also recently featured in this Seattle Times story.
