Last week’s market wine 20% off sale was a huge success! The Market Foundation thanks all those who purchased these delectable potables. All proceeds help to make the market the best it can be. Keep reading this column to learn when the next sale will take place in July. Everyone has been asking when the “fish guy” is coming back, this weekend is it! The Fish Basket is back along with two of the new favorite food trucks; Jemil’s Cajon and the Skinny Phoenix. Too see when the food vendors are at the market, log onto market vendors.fbLogo-2Line-196x781 The community group this week is American Homestay Network who will have a booth to present their program for international students to learn about American language and culture and to live with an American family, especially one that shares the student’s interests. Also back is the kid’s all-time favorite Highline MaST Center with their touchy-feely tanks filled with wild creatures from Puget Sound waters. Seattle_Sounders_Women_logoMarket Sponsor Corner The Seattle Sounders Women will be at their booth from 11am to 1pm to sign autographs and take pictures. Lucky winners will get an autographed scarf. This booth space was donated by market sponsor EC Computers in Des Moines. Back again this week is Friend to Friend America that recruits and matches volunteers to visit (one-to-one) with elderly and disabled persons who live in nursing homes, assisted living, retirement homes and Adult Family homes for the purpose of forming friendships. Anyone may volunteer. This booth space was donated by sponsor Law Offices of Gehrke, Wegener & Doull. Music this week is by Blues crooner PK Dwyer (who you can also hear on SoKing Internet Radio) from noon to 2pm. Look for him at the Boardwalk Bistro and remember to make a donation, as all the market’s musicians perform for free. Don’t forget the Des Moines Area Food Bank “Picnic in the Park” continues their free summer lunch program for all school age kids. If you would like to volunteer to help with this program, contact the Food Bank 206-878-2660. Look for them in the grassy area next to the marina office starting at noon. A child does not need to be a Highline Public School student to participate. They will be there every Saturday until school starts. Our market has grown to be one of the premier markets in South King County. As a result it takes a tremendous effort to put it together every Saturday thru our entire season. Unfortunately our volunteer staff has not grown at the same pace. If you would like to volunteer to help stage the market, please contact us at Market Manager. Thank You. UPCOMING EVENTS The first annual Farmers Market Kids Fishing Derby is coming on July 13th. Look for rules and signup regulations in this column next week.]]>

    1. Hi Janet!
Unfortunately, the pizza guys have gone back to their day jobs and quit the pizza business but they are looking to sell or lease their machine to anybody interested so if you or somebody you know is looking to get into the pizza business, let us know down at the market!
