LETTER: Former Des Moines Mayor responds to councilmember Sheckler

[EDITOR’S NOTE: The following is a Letter to the Editor, written by a Reader. It does not necessarily reflect the opinion of The Waterland Blog nor its staff:]

Letter to the editor of the Waterland Blog.

Mr. Sheckler commented about city council candidates’ financial status last week on the WATERLAND BLOG.

Mr. Sheckler has been patiently waiting over ten years for an opportunity to remind readers that I had been fined by the PDC. Yes Mr. Sheckler I was fined by the PDC! But In all my years on the city council, I was never guilty of having a CONFLICT OF INTEREST! each year, Don’t you wish you could say the same?

You still seem to have a problem with getting your facts straight! Fear not, You may improve as you grow up!

I recently met Mr. Nutting, He seems to be a nice young man. But I want to take this opportunity to warn him: that: If he depends on Mr. Sheckler for help in his campaign, HE WILL BE SORRY!

In Mr. sheckler’s comment he mentioned: That he would like to challenge someone to debate the issue.

Look no further Bob, I ACCEPT, LETS GET IT ON, IF YOU DARE.

Fraternally yours,
Don Wasson
A RECOVERING X MAYOR (nobody’s perfect!)

Oh, boy. So our former Mayor has horrible punctuation problems. Why do people think that “just because it’s the internet, I don’t have to try and type everything correctly”?

I believe that our Waterland Blog is a platform for idea exchange and debate of itself Having said that you can be certain, my friend, Don, that the unkind remarks directed at you do not reflect the decency that I know of those on the council, from Mayor Kaplan on down. You are well known as a decent man yourself and respected by many of us who know you.

This Waterland Blog is a great place to say what you think, when you think it and there is our support in the first amendment:
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or a abridging the freedom of speech, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for redress of grievances.”
