September is National Emergency Preparedness month. Are YOU ready?

MedicOnelogo_thumbWayne Corey, member of King County EMS/Medic One Advisory Committee, reports on the Media Release of cardiac arrest survival rates as they continue to climb in King County.

Wayne is also the publisher of and you can check his website for the full media release and a video of your Medic One Paramedics in action.

“Dr Mickey Eisenberg, medical director for EMS Division of Public Health, last year set a goal of 60% survival rate, hopefully to be reached in the next couple of years,” Wayne said.

With current figures reaching 57%, it looks the program continues to amaze. This figure is truly amazing when you consider rates in other parts of the country hover around 10% and some major urban centers on the East coast are 5% or below.

Wayne also says that September is National Emergency Preparedness month, and he has updated his website so people can start preparing for the winter months ahead – it is never too early to start. Just look at the amount of rain and flooding we’ve had in the last week or so!
