Here’s a great opportunity to rise up and Volunteer to help others locally:
Hyde Shuttles have served as a crucial resource for Des Moines residents since the program first selected Des Moines as its pilot site in 1997. Many seniors and people with disabilities rely on this safe and reliable transportation service for needed socialization, errands, and recreational activities. As Sue Padden, Senior Service Manager for the City of Des Moines, explains, “The Hyde Shuttle program is a major partner in our mission at Des Moines/Normandy Park Activity Center to help older adults to live independently and with dignity and to remain in their community as long as possible. Local, reliable, affordable transportation is critical in supporting our mission.”
You have the opportunity to be a part of this life-sustaining and enriching program! Caring and reliable volunteers are urgently needed to drive agency vans in Burien and Des Moines/Normandy Park. We offer free training in defensive driving and passenger assistance, and you do not need a special driver’s license. Spread the word! Help us ensure that this valuable program can continue to meet the needs of seniors and disabled folks in our community.
