LETTER: Resident endorses Municipal Court Judge candidate

[EDITOR’S NOTE: The following is a Letter to the Editor, written by a Reader(s). It does not necessarily reflect the opinion of The Waterland Blog nor its staff:]

Friends and neighbors,

Judicial races aren’t very exciting and don’t often get the attention they deserve, but they are extremely important. In the current judicial race for Des Moines Municipal Court Judge, we need a judge with a record that reflects a deep knowledge of the law, it’s fair and even-handed application, and administrative leadership to continue modernizing our court. We need a judge with experience on the bench, not just presenting before the bench. Current Municipal Court Judge Veronica Galvan’s record displays all these characteristics.

She has nearly 12 years on the bench, 6 years in Des Moines. Her performance there is recognized state-wide as her colleagues have made her President-Elect of the state association of municipal court judges. She has the support of 7 of 9 Washington State Supreme Court judges, over 100 judges state-wide, as well as the entire Des Moines City Council.

I want the judicial experience Judge Galvan has to continue her impressive contributions to our municipal court, our city, and our citizens.

Please vote for Judge Veronica Galvan for Des Moines Municipal Court Judge in this current election.

– Al Isaac
