Des Moines Yacht Club holds 57th annual Commodore’s Ball

The 57th Annual Commodore’s Ball for the Des Moines Yacht Club took its place as one of the group’s best-attended and most elegant events on March 1, 2014.

Midnight Blue and white linens graced the tables, translucent white swags transformed the windows and a piano trio from the Federal Way Symphony greeted guests—DMYC club members and visiting commodores and clubs. The evening played out with a formal introduction of the 2014 flag officers and visiting dignitaries, a delicious meal catered by Apogee, and a fun evening of dancing to the sounds of The Fabulous Murphtones.

Newly installed Commodore Brian Kelly and First Mate Karen hosted the flag officers’ table with other officers, Vice Commodore Don Masoero and First Mate Nadine; Rear Commodore Neil Kelly and First Mate Patti Dahl; and Fleet Captain Wayne Sparks with First Mate Linda.

The group ‘gets fancy’ for events such as this one but has many more member activities. DMYC hosts cruises year-round to Puget Sound destinations for its members and guests, produces the huge annual Swap Meet later this month, and offers scholarships to qualifying Mt Rainier seniors to name just a few. Des Moines Yacht Club is dedicated to the promotion of boating safety, good fellowship and family boating experiences for the benefit of Des Moines residents and surrounding communities.
