Des Moines Police seeking public’s help solving shooting incident

Des Moines Police are seeking the public’s help solving a shooting incident that took place Monday night (May 12) around 7 p.m. in the area of South 218th Street and 29th Ave South.

Police say that they responded to reports that numerous gun shots were fired from two unidentified vehicles in the area.

“It is believed that the occupants of the two vehicles were shooting at each other,” police said. “When officers arrived in the area, both vehicles were gone. Both were seems last heard north towards South 216th Street.”

Officers located a 28-year old black male who had been shot, sitting in an uninvolved vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was giving the injured subject a ride to the hospital. The injured subject would not provide police with any information as to what had taken place. The injured subject was transported to Harborview Medical Center via Medic One. The extent of his injuries are unknown at this time.

At this time the Des Moines Police Department does not have any further leads as to what took place, and is asking the public for help.
