A 6-year old boy named Moses Stevens – who was recently diagnosed with leukemia – has been named the honorary Chief of the Des Moines Police Department, and the department is seeking donations.

“He is a quiet little guy with a big heart,” reads an announcement.

Moses will be working with Chief Delgado throughout the summer to get the word out to the community on the proactive things the department is doing to make Des Moines a great place to live and visit.

“Our department will be raising donations in the form of Papa Murphy coupon card sales, which you can purchase anytime at the front lobby of the police department and through direct donations of money and goods in an effort to fulfill the wish list that Moses has provided,” police said.

Their goal is to provide this young man with an experience he will never forget.
