We are glad last Saturday is behind us, we don’t need no stink’n rain! With the first month of the season behind us the market continues on a record breaking year with sales up 35% over last year. This being the Fourth of July holiday weekend look for specials from vendors, including the market’s Foundation wine specials. Stop by the booth and taste this year wines, a select Cabernet and Riesling which are 20% off with purchase of four. Remember all proceeds from sales go to help run the market. Also when at the wine booth don’t forget to pick up Wanolitto’s famous Cooking with Wine Cookbook, makes a great gift. Fourth-of-July-Wine-Sale-Totes Food Trucks – look for your favorites: Jemil’s Big Easy Cajon, Lumpia World, and new ones Athena’s, Bing of Fire, Curb Jumper Street Eats, Neema’s Comfort Food. Here are the community groups for this week: The Des Moines Art Commission will be explaining all the events they have lined up for the summer including the Concerts in the Park and Shakespeare in the Park, just to name a few. Back again is Paws 2 Guide with volunteers raising puppies for Guide Dogs for the Blind in the greater Southwest Seattle/King County area. Paws-2-Guide Music will be provided by shopper’s favorite Saltwater Saints. Remember to make a donation, as all the market’s musicians perform for free. The Des Moines Area Food Bank “Picnic in the Park” continues their free summer lunch program for all school age kids. If you would like to volunteer to help with this program, contact the Food Bank 206-878-2660. Look for them in the grassy area next to the marina office starting at noon. They will be there every Saturday until school starts.
