Gunshots heard near Pinebrook Terrace condominiums early Wed. morning

WLB Reader Sarah Isham sent us the following email Wed. morning (Aug. 6), about hearing gunshots near the Pinebrook Terrace condominiums near 21st and Kent/Des Moines Road early this morning:

“I was woken (sic) by gunshots (again) around the intersection of Kent Des Moines Rd and 21st Ave, same area where someone shot towards the bus stop a year and half or so ago. It happened around 1:30 this morning. I don’t know which direction the sound came from, but we did call it in. Just wanted to give a heads up in case you can find out more and put it on the blog.”

We reached out to Sgt. Doug Jenkins of the Des Moines Police Department, who told us this:

“We did receive three separate reports of the sounds of gunfire in the area from about the 1800 block to the 2100 block of Kent Des Moines Rd. this morning at about 1:15 AM. No one saw anything such as vehicles or persons and the officers did not find anything suspicious in the area. One of the reporting parties seemed to think it was her daughter’s ex-boyfriend shooting at their house, but there was absolutely nothing to substantiate that claim.”

Also of interest is the following warning posted onto the condo’s website:

“Pinebrook has been experiencing prowling and break-ins. Please remember to turn your carport lights on at night!”
