Mt. Rainier High School put into lockdown, evacuated Friday morning

A phone call bomb threat put Mt. Rainier High School into lockdown mode Friday morning, Feb. 27, according to Sgt. Doug Jenkins of the Des Moines Police Department.

“At 8 a.m. police received a phone call saying that there was a bomb at Mt. Rainier High School,” Jenkins told The Waterland Blog. “We contacted staff, evacuated the school, and police have been sweeping the school.”

It is unknown if this incident is related to a bomb threat received at Highline High School Friday morning as well; read about that here.

I was wondering if by chance the police department can alert daycares and other schools in the immediate area of situations like this!!! It would be nice to warn others about these things!

Mt Rainier has been the site of several incidents in the last 60days, from abductions to attempts to abduct, to the crazy anti abortion guy now parading around the school, to last week his female companion making all kinds of crazy rantings, just down the block at the corner. The large drug bust just down the street from the school. That 2 block area of 19th has seen it’s fair share of action and crazy this year already!!!!

Why don’t you take the appropriate steps to find out if this is true instead of posting that type of information on here where you will likely never receive a reliable answer?

    Kari,
This is absolutely not true. There were no bombs found and no arrests made.

On this day, there was also a suicidal student who was waving gun around inside of Mount Rainier. School staff used bomb threat as a way to cover up for this scary incident since this isn’t the first suicide attempt involving our school in the last 4-5 weeks.
