Training exercise will bring choppers, boats, police & SWAT to Marina Tuesday

A joint law enforcement training exercise will take place all day on Tuesday, June 16, in the vicinity of the Des Moines marina, the King County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday.

Hours of the exercise will be from approximately 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

“Our helicopter, marine vessels, as well as our SWAT team will be hosting this event,” police said in a statement.

Citizens may see the Sheriff’s helicopter flying from the Alki Point area south to Dumas Bay.

The main landing zone for the helicopter will be the Des Moines Marina.

Agencies participating in the exercise include the Seattle Police, Bainbridge Island Police, the U.S. Coast Guard, Customs and Border Protection, and King County Medic One.

There will be numerous law enforcement boats involved in the exercise as well, along with one boat from the King County Water Taxi.

During the exercise there will be no public access to the pier.
