Des Moines Police Drug Disposal & Shred Event at Saturday’s Farmers Market
The Des Moines Police Department has again partnered with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and will be hosting a National Take-Back Initiative collection site this Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Des Moines Farmers Market to collect unused, expired or unwanted prescriptions and over the counter solid medications for safe disposal, with no questions asked.
This event will take place this Saturday, Sept. 26, between 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Farmers Market in the Des Moines Marina at 22307 Dock Ave S, next to the Marina Office.
The rate of prescription abuse in the U.S. is increasing at alarming rates, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs. Shred-it, the world’s leading on-site document destruction company, and the Des Moines Police Department have partnered to help Des Moines residents combat identity theft by hosting a FREE Community Shred-it Event on Saturday, September 26th, from 10am to 1pm (or until the truck is full). The event will take place at the Des Moines Farmer’s Market in the Des Moines Marina, near the Marina Office. Residents are invited to bring up to two file boxes of unwanted personal documents for shredding by Shred-it mobile trucks. This is first come, first serve. The shredding truck’s capacity is 9000lbs and once it is full, the event will be over! Representatives from the Des Moines Police Department will be on-site to provide resources and tips on how you can protect yourself against identity theft.
