A new, temporary traffic signal on S. 200th Street near Des Moines Creek (map below) may cause traffic delays beginning as early as Monday, Jan. 25.
Crews will be building a new retaining wall on the south side of South 200th Street near the creek. Due to equipment needs and construction activities, one lane of the road must be closed at this location while the wall is being built. The traffic signal will be in place 24-hours a day and will enable motorists to drive through the work zone from both directions.
The Des Moines Creek Trail parking will remain open during construction.
This work is part of the roadway restoration for Sound Transit’s South 200th Link Extension. Once restoration is complete, there will be a new pedestrian crossing signal and crosswalk near the Des Moines Creek Trail parking lot, a new walkway on the north side of the road, as well as a new bicycle climbing lane on the south side of the road heading to International Boulevard. These amenities will enhance access for bicyclists and pedestrians through the area.
