No school this Friday means it’s time to play at the Mt. Rainier Swimming Pool

The Great Thaw only

No school this Friday (March 11) makes for a great time to visit the Mt Rainier Pool, where the kids can enjoy swimming in the pool with large chunks of ice!

That’s right – LARGE CHUNKS OF ICE!

While parents may shudder at the thought, kids squeal with delight (NOTE: 5 gallon blocks of ice in a 240,000 pool = no temperature change!).

It’s called “The Great Thaw” in observance of the arrival of spring.

“Join us as we toss large chunks of ice in the pool and watch the kids go crazy!”

Treats, too!

This is one of the pool’s more popular events.

Mt. Rainier Pool is located at 22722 19th Ave South in Des Moines.

New Spring Schedule also released! Have fun, keep swimming!
