13-year old boy arrested in connection to recent fatal shooting in Des Moines

A 13-year old boy was arrested Monday (May 16) for crimes related to the May 6 homicide of a 41-year old man (read our previous coverage here) – but not the homicide itself.

Police say that the boy is a Des Moines resident, as well as a student at Pacific Middle School.

“We believe he is linked to the burglary in Des Moines where the murder weapon was stolen,” Sgt. Doug Jenkins told The Waterland Blog. “We also believe his is linked to the stolen vehicle that was used as the get-away car after the homicide occurred. He was present when the homicide occurred as well.”

The 13-year old boy is connected with the 14-year old and 15-year old boys who were previously arrested.

After speaking with detectives, the 13-year old was booked at the King County Youth Center for Investigation of Burglary in the First Degree, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Theft of a Firearm.
