Major construction work begins this Friday night, July 15, on a project that will reduce southbound I-5 to two lanes between SeaTac and Des Moines for the entire weekend.
WSDOT says that this is the first of five weekends of southbound lane closures spread out during the months of July and August to complete crucial pavement repair work on the aging interstate. Several ramps in the area will also be closed.
Work was scheduled to begin last weekend, but was postponed by rainy weather.
