Former Des Moines City Manager appointed as Interim Manager for Burien

After an hour-plus interview of two candidates, the Burien City Council voted 5-0 Monday night (Oct. 10) to appoint retired Des Moines City Manager Tony Piasecki as interim manager of Burien, replacing the fired Kamuron Gurol.

The vote was unanimous.

The two candidates the Council interviewed were Piasecki, who retired in August after 20 years on the Des Moines staff – the last seven as city manager – and David Johnston, who formerly was city manager of Maple Valley.
