WWI music will be performed at Des Moines United Methodist Church Oct. 27

Des Moines United Methodist Church will present music written from the first World War period, and performed by four outstanding artists on the viola, oboe, piano, and soprano this coming Saturday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m.

In observance of the 100th anniversary of the armistice of the First World War, the Saltwater Music Series shares music written by composers from opposing sides of the terrible conflict.

Kerry Bollinger Blanton (viola), Liz Frazer (soprano), Justin Henderlight (oboe), and Steven Luksan (piano) will present music written in the decades surrounding the war by composers from both the Allied and Central powers side-by-side, including pieces by Vaughan Williams (England), Glazunov (Russia), Saint-Saëns (France), Bartók (Austria-Hungary) and others.

As always, admission is FREE, but $10 donations will be accepted for a great charitable cause!
