Police seeking public’s help regarding fatal shooting on Thanksgiving day

Des Moines Police Detectives are asking for help regarding a fatal shooting on Thanksgiving day (Nov. 22) at the Mt. Rainier High School field.

Police say that after a holiday pickup football game on the field (the school was closed), a 21-year-old man was shot in the stomach Thursday around Noon.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they found the victim with a gunshot wound in the abdomen. He had been playing football with a group of about 15 people before there was some kind of argument.

Police say that one participant flashed a gun, then his group left before two returned and shot the victim, who was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he died Thursday night. The suspects then fled in a mid-to-late 2000s maroon Chevy Malibu.

Anyone with any information about this incident, or security camera footage, is asked to call (206) 878-3301.

Mount Rainier High School is located at 22450 19th Avenue South:
