On Wednesday, May 29, 2019, National Senior Health & Fitness Day® will celebrate its 26th anniversary as the nation’s annual largest older adult health and wellness event.  Organized as a public/private good health partnership by the Mature Market Resource Center (MMRC), National Senior Health & Fitness Day will offer fitness activities for older adults at more than 1,000 locations including hospitals, park and recreation departments, senior centers, health clubs, retirement communities, houses of worship, health departments and other community locations.  Wesley Des Moines will celebrate National Senior Health & Fitness Day with an all-day event filled with fitness demonstrations, art sessions, a health & wellness fair, line dancing, outdoor games and a heart healthy happy hour with special guest appearance by Blitz the official mascot of the Seattle Seahawks.  “Wesley Des Moines is excited to host this event” says Tina McNeilly, Wesley Des Moines Health & Fitness Coordinator. “Our goal for this day is to make exercise fun and encourage all older adults to take advantage of the many health and fitness programs offered at Wesley De Moines and in their communities”. The event runs from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29 at Wesley Des Moines. Admission is free.
