Music of the Salish Sea at Des Moines United Methodist Church Saturday night

Enjoy an evening of music dedicated to the Salish Sea this Saturday, May 18, from 7 – 8:30 p.m. at Des Moines United Methodist Church.

The Saltwater Music Series dedicates the final concert of its 2018/19 season to the centerpiece of our region’s natural riches: the Salish Sea.

Mezzo-soprano Julia Benzinger joins pianist/composer Steven Luksan for an evening of songs about the sea, including music by Schubert, Respighi, Barber, and more! Luksan’s new cycle “Sea Songs” (with poetry by 20th century American poets and contemporary PNW poet Jeff Fearnside) will be premiered alongside Luksan’s settings of “Three Folksongs from the Pacific Northwest.”

As always, admission is FREE. Donations will be collected to benefit a local charity.
