Des Moines K9 Daric helps Auburn Police apprehend car thief

Des Moines Police’s K9 Daric – along with K9 Officer Boehmer – assisted Auburn officers to apprehend a car thief after they tried to stop a stolen vehicle that hit a police vehicle,

Police say that the suspect driver ran away into a thick wooded area, and another occupant was stopped by officers.

“Auburn officers did a great job coordinating a perimeter which stopped the suspect from escaping the wooded area and kept him away from area residents,” police said.

K9 Daric took charge and started the search for the suspect. K9 Daric kept the officers safe and narrowed down the area where the suspect ran. King County Guardian 1 joined officers and they were able to pin point exactly where the suspect was hiding (see video below). K9 Daric was already working the area and police located the suspect who gave up after he was challenged by K9 Daric.

“This is another great example on how multiple jurisdictions help each other and relentlessly fight crime with trust and care for our communities.”

Below is video from the King County Sheriff’s Office Guardian 1 helicopter showing the apprehension:

I want to let you all know how professional officer Boehmer is. He recently was in the Redondo neighborhood to investigate a neighbor who was robbed. He came by to ask us a few questions. He is a keeper.
