Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the ‘Stay Home, Stay Healthy’ order, as well crowd size limitations, the Destination Des Moines (DDM) Board of Directors this week cancelled its annual Fireworks Over Des Moines Show, Community BBQ, Randy Hansen concert and Des Moines Waterland Festival, which includes the Wheels and Keels Car and Boat Show and The Art in the Park Show.

Destination Des Moines is working on developing a Waterland ‘Virtual Parade’ to be presented on the regularly scheduled date and time of the Grand Parade – July 18 at 6 p.m.

“We will be sending out details of how that will be developed and how you will be able to participate and view the Virtual Parade on Facebook and the City of Des Moines Channel 21.”

“We look forward to producing all of these events for the community in 2021,” organizers said.

DDM wants to thank all of its sponsors, the City of Des Moines and Partners, Seattle Southside Regional Tourism Authority and Seattle Southside Chamber of Commerce for their support over these past 10 years.
