From the City of Des Moines:

Seattle Sounders FC’s charitable arm, RAVE Foundation, along with the Seattle Storm, have teamed up with Symetra Life Insurance Company to support and improve equitable access to safe, fun physical activity for youth by renovating the court at Midway Park in the Pacific Ridge Neighborhood into new soccer mini pitch and basketball court.

The multi-purpose recreation space is a donation from the RAVE Foundation and Storm with generous support from Symetra Life Insurance Company. Together with the City and Highline Public Schools, these champions are collaborating to invest in a brand new court intended for free play.

The dual soccer and basketball court at Midway Park will be free to all and will serve to inspire free play and community pride.

The Sounders and Storm have also pledged ongoing programming at Midway Park and nearby Midway Elementary.
Highline Schools recently held a virtual class for local children to produce the art for the hoops/goals, involving the youth of the local community in the project. The City will host an online skills clinic later this summer, with free balls in advance and instruction provided by the Sounders/Storm.

The park refurbishment is underway and expected to be completed by early August.

“Thank you to the RAVE Foundation as well as the Seattle Storm, Symetra and Highline Schools!”
