The 2012 season of the Des Moines Farmers Market will kick off Saturday, June 2nd, and Organizers wanted to share the following message with our Readers:

Coming off its most successful season in its history, the Des Moines Waterfront Farmers market would first like to thank all the wonderful patrons, vendors, volunteers and sponsors in making this happen. Can you ever forget the very first bite of the Roving Pizzaioli pizza right out of the wood fired oven or that artesian bread or pastry from the Snohomish bakery? Last year also saw the beginning of the Farmers Market Foundation, created to help sustain the market in years to come. It’s first fund raising endeavor was the selling of the Farmers Market own wines which netted $1,500 towards the Market Endowment Fund. Click here for more information on the Foundation. Interested in becoming involved with one of the premier events in South King County? There are many avenues to explore. Board of Director’s President, Wayne Corey, recently stated “we are already planning for our upcoming 7th season and know that it will also be a record breaker.”  As with every season, one of the avenues is sponsorships, which play a huge part in helping to fund this non-profit, completely volunteer organization. The drive to obtain sponsors has just started and any business or individual who are interested can contact Wayne directly at [email protected]. Market Manager Rikki Marohl commented “the market has already lined up new and unique farmer and food vendors and is currently seeking cheese, seafood or specialty food merchants.” If you are interested in becoming a vendor for the upcoming season which opens on June 2nd, please contact her at [email protected]. You can follow the happenings of the market by registering to receive the e-newsletter, Facebook, Twitter, http://dmfm.org/ or our Full Season Sponsor The Waterland Blog for periodic stories of interest. See you on June 2nd for opening day of exciting happenings. Think sun!
