Now that major construction is complete at the north end of the Des Moines Marina — and we’re rapidly approaching the summer months — you’re going to see some new things happening. This first one is hard to miss! Parked on the north side of the Marina Office from 11 AM to 7 PM daily is a bright yellow trailer… the new “Fish Basket” mobile eatery. This family run business serves up a wide variety of traditional sea-side foods from fish and chips to oysters, scallops and fish tacos. You can also get chicken strips or choose from a variety of burgers if you prefer. We opted to try the Arctic Cod with beer batter and could not have been happier with the results. We’ll absolutely be return customers! You can download a PDF file with the menu from the Marina Web Site and call ahead to order at 253-448-6200. Be sure to stop by and try them out, then let us know what you think in the comments below. ]]>

  1. This is another great example of what our marina and city needs. Attractive and situated perfectly for the marina clients and the city’s visitors. If the food’s good, it will be a winner!

  2. This is a good touch but, the marina should take a look at the other marinas that have been recently upgraded. It would be great to have some retail space down.

  3. My husband and I were there for the grand opening. We opted to try the South of the Border and Western burgers. They were phenomenal! We’ll definitely be going throughout the summer.

    1. Glad to hear I’m not the only one! I went back tonight to try the halibut and chips and it was fantastic!

  4. My husband and I ate there last night. Fish & chips were fantastic! We’re looking forward to many return visits this summer. On a side note… We sat at the tables by the food truck and enjoyed the gorgeous views of the boats, waves and birds. There really needs to be a permanent restaurant or other development at that location in order to share this beauty with the rest of the residents and visitors.
