It’s Thanksgiving Day across America, and we’d like to take a moment from our usual local news and events postings to reflect on what we’re thankful for…

Mostly, we want to send out a huge THANKS! to all our Readers and Advertisers!

This year’s Thanksgiving week has been stuffed with a bit more emotion than usual for us. The loss of one of our own leaves a hole, but at the same time highlights all the many blessings for which we give thanks.

Below is our list of gratitude, and we invite you to share yours in Comments below:

Our families and loved ones. To be able to sit around a table sharing a wonderful meal with our loved ones is very, very special.

YOU! We truly appreciate our growing audience of Readers!

Our Advertisers! We couldn’t sustain this business without your support! Please know that the money you spend with us gets injected right back into our local economy by our staff of people who all live, work, play and spend their money here.

Our Staff! Our recent loss has made us appreciate each other’s contribution to the group, and how precious each person’s talents are to this venture. We’re on the cusp of celebrating five years in this business, and our success comes from our people, their skills, commitments, and love for our communities.

And on that note, we’d like to close this post of gratitude off with a couple of quotes we find appropriate:

“Reflect upon your present blessings, of which every man has many–not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some.”

– Charles Dickens

“If you’re at a Thanksgiving dinner, but you don’t like the stuffing or the cranberry sauce or anything else, just pretend like you’re eating it, but instead, put it all in your lap and form it into a big mushy ball. Then, later, when you’re out back having cigars with the boys, let out a big fake cough and throw the ball to the ground. Then say, ‘-Boy, these are good cigars!-‘”

– Jack Handy
