BurienCycle04 Many of you may be familiar with Burien Cycle – the bike shop located at 804 SW 151st Street in Burien – but what some of you may not realize is that ownership of the business has changed. After honing his skills at the Burien location under the watchful eye of original owner Mike Solberg, Johnson opened his first shop in 2005 in Renton, G.H.Y. Bikes, located at 230 Main Avenue S. Renton, Wa 98057. Earlier this year A.J. Johnson had received a call from Solberg, who informed him that the new owner/tenant would be moving out of his Burien building. A.J. Johnson decided to jump on the chance and use Burien Cycle as the name – a name that was first used in 1948 by Solbergs’ father. The shop had moved to its current location in 1954. Knowing the long history of the building and its location, A.J. wanted to continue the tradition, opening his doors last September. Burien Cycle caters to men and women of all ages. Looking to carry on in the tradition of the Solberg’s family original shop, Johnson carries bikes suited for all styles of cycling – from commuter, to off-road, to racing, to pleasure bikes – but he also sells a wide variety of accessories and has a booming bike repair business. With summer just around the corner, it’s time to pull those bikes out of your garage, dust off the cobwebs and bring them on down to Burien Cycle for a tune-up! Johnson and his talented crew are here, happy to help!
