On Wednesday (April 29), the Federal Aviation Administration announced that its new facility will be built in the Des Moines Creek Business Park, which is under lease to Panattoni Development from the Port of Seattle.
Some 1600 family wage jobs will be coming to Des Moines, and the FAA plans to open late summer 2017, according to a statement.
Once the lease is signed it will allow the agency to consolidate its workforce in the Northwest Mountain Region in one facility to “better deliver their mission to provide the safest, most efficient aerospace system in the world,” according to a letter sent to the city by Erika Mascorro of the U.S. General Services Administration.
GSA has been working with FAA to reduce their real estate costs and increase their workplace efficiencies with this national initiative strategically integrating space, people, and technology solutions customized to different workplace needs.
The letter of intent is the result of an open and competitive procurement. The intended awardee met all the requirements of the Request for Lease Proposals and providing the best overall value to the taxpayers.

Hopefully they will opt for a building without air conditioning so they can open their windows and share in the noise from the aircraft they have failed to regulate.
The airplane traffic noise is just a sign of local growth and development.
No actually it’s not. The abusive use of the third runway has happened due to a lack of respect for anyone that lives in the south end. If planes were taking off over Belleuve I guarantee there would be noise mitigation.

e less acceleration on landing to alleviate the noise problem. Also they are not flying during our normal an sleeping hours. This is something we must learn to live with. I remember the noisy automobiles replacing horses and wagons. People then were really upset. Not anymore.
