The Des Moines Pool Metropolitan Park District is seeking to hire a motivated, charismatic, innovative recreation and parks professional to become their District General Manager.
The Des Moines Pool Metropolitan Park District (District) is located in the beautiful State of Washington – not in the Midwest as you might imagine. Located on the shore of Puget Sound, roughly half way between Seattle and Tacoma, this beautiful suburban community is home to the Mt. Rainier Pool.
The District was created by the people of Des Moines in order to provide a stable tax base for the continued operation, repair and upgrading of a forty year old indoor pool that has been the training location for many top aquatics athletes including at least one Olympian.
The person appointed to become the District General Manager will lead both the administrative affairs of the District and the development program intended to guarantee a quality aquatics experience to the local area for the next two or more decades. She or he will manage an aggressive restoration and renovation program in collaboration with contract operators, the consulting architect, the local school district and the District Board of Commissioners. She or he will develop relationships in the community and become recognizable as a positive personality in the presence of the Mt. Rainier Pool.
Applicants should possess a four year degree in Recreation and Parks Administration, Public Administration or a related field and should have three or more years’ experience in management of a recreation program that includes aquatics and pool facilities and programs.
