UPDATE: Due to concerns about safety during this stormy weather, the Farmers Market scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 31 has been CANCELLED. I think we had all phases of the beastly weather last Saturday. Burrrrr, it was cold and this dummy still had on shorts. This Saturday I’m wearing long johns as the forcast is not looking too good right now. If you are planning on attending the last day of the season’s Chili Cook-Off remember the tastings start at 11am thru 1pm and the cost is $5 per person which gets you samples of several different kinds of chili, sample bowl, spoon, wet nap and the chance to vote for your favorite. This year the entrance to the chili teams is in the horseshoe in front of the marina office. The exit will be into the market booth area. There is also a comment section on the back of the ballot and we would appreciate it if you would let us know how we did this season. All proceeds from this event go to the Highline Dollars for Scholars and Southwest Seattle Business & Professional Women’s Foundation. The market would like to thank sponsors of the Cook-Off Wesley Homes, Seattle Southside and Recology CleanScapes. Look for chili teams from Wesley and Recology. Music: No music this week Food Trucks: Pleasant Food Manifest Community Groups: King County Metro will be there with their Orca transit cards. Remember to check out the market’s logo wear at the information booth, as all are on close-out. ALSO…don’t forget to pick up a FREE ‘WTRLND‘ oval car sticker at our booth as well! Screen Shot 2015-09-17 at 7.02.02 AMThis is the last day for our Healthy Eating Initiative program until next season. So far this year the market has issued over $8,000 to seniors. We issue weekly free $10 vouchers for those who qualify. This program is brought to you by partners, the Des Moines Farmers Market and King Conservation District. The vouchers are good for fruits, vegetables and processed food products (bakery items, etc). Also, don’t forget HYDE Shuttle is providing local door to door transportation to the market for seniors 55 and older and people with disabilities of all ages living in Des Moines, Normandy Park, Burien and this year Sea-Tac. For a ride call 206-727-6262. Upcoming Events:
