Since its inception\, the Market has been a prime gathering place for the City of Des Moines and surrounding communities. \nThe Market supports many food security initiatives and programs\, including vendors who accept Senior and Women\, Infant and Children (WIC) vouchers for fresh fruit and vegetables\, EBT (food stamps) and Fresh Bucks matching programs\, and King Conservation District Senior Health Eating Initiative for qualifying low-income seniors. Sponsor and community booths provide a way for local and regional organizations to share what they offer and fundraise for school and social programs. \nThe market is governed by a volunteer board of directors made up of nine local citizens. The Board’s goal is to make sure the market remains a viable event\, promotes Washington farms and products\, and enhances of quality of life for the citizens of our community\, both in the City of Des Moines and more broadly. The market is funded exclusively from sponsor and foundation donations\, public and private grants\, and vendor application and stall fees.

DESCRIPTION:Flash back to 1947 – flying saucers were zoomin’ as Frank Sinatra was croonin’! \n\n\n\nFor one special night this summer\, the evening gown and fedora are back to celebrate the first appearance of the iconic Men in Black. \n\n\n\nAs part of the 6/22 Men in Black Birthday Bash (MIBBB)\, Des Moines Legacy Foundation will host the Ol’ Blue Eyes Bayside Ball\, featuring A Night at the Sands with Joey Jewell and the Swinging Sixties Orchestra. \n\n\n\nThe doors will open at 6 p.m. on Saturday\, June 24\, 2023 at the Des Moines Yacht Club. \n\n\n\nThe Bayside Ball is sure to be the talk of the town with incredible entertainment\, appetizers and desserts showcasing local restaurants and eateries\, plus amazing tabletop displays of glassworks by Des Moines’ own internationally renowned artist\, George C Scott. \n\n\n\nDress is ‘40s hip black and white\, with a touch of blue to honor the Chairman of the Board. \nDes Moines Legacy Foundation\nFor more than 20 years\, the Legacy Foundation has presented exciting and memorable gala events\, such as its annual Poverty Bay Arts Gala and the Bayside Brunch at Anthony’s Homeport Restaurant. DESCRIPTION:Flash back to 1947 – flying saucers were zoomin’ as Frank Sinatra was croonin’! \n\n\n\nFor one special night this summer\, the evening gown and fedora are back to celebrate the first appearance of the iconic Men in Black. \n\n\n\nAs part of the 6/22 Men in Black Birthday Bash (MIBBB)\, Des Moines Legacy Foundation will host the Ol’ Blue Eyes Bayside Ball\, featuring A Night at the Sands with Joey Jewell and the Swinging Sixties Orchestra. \n\n\n\nThe doors will open at 6 p.m. on Saturday\, June 24\, 2023 at the Des Moines Yacht Club. \n\n\n\nThe Bayside Ball is sure to be the talk of the town with incredible entertainment\, appetizers and desserts showcasing local restaurants and eateries\, plus amazing tabletop displays of glassworks by Des Moines’ own internationally renowned artist\, George C Scott. \n\n\n\nDress is ‘40s hip black and white\, with a touch of blue to honor the Chairman of the Board. \nDes Moines Legacy Foundation\nFor more than 20 years\, the Legacy Foundation has presented exciting and memorable gala events\, such as its annual Poverty Bay Arts Gala and the Bayside Brunch at Anthony’s Homeport Restaurant.
