DESCRIPTION:From our friends at WABI Burien: \nAll are invited to join the WABI Weekday Walkers on a new loop through Des Moines on Wednesday\, Dec. 18\, 2024. \nWalkers should meet at the Des Moines Public Library (map below). \nHeading generally south and then west\, we’ll venture along neighborhood streets down to the southern end of the marina (by Anthony’s). \nAlong the way\, we’ll catch beautiful views across to Maury and Vashon Islands\, pass by a 120 year old Coastal Redwood tree with a placard honoring its origins\, and admire several pieces of street art. \n\n\n\nDes Moines Marina \nOnce we reach the marina\, we’ll turn north and walk past the boat docks and up to the pier. Then it’s uphill back to the library. Our way is on paved sidewalks and streets\, with some moderate climbs at the end. \nAll are invited to join us on this 2.5 mile loop. We expect to walk for about 75 minutes. \nDate: Wednesday\, Dec. 18\, 2024 (Rain or shine.)\nTime: Meet a little before 10am so we can begin walking at 10 a.m.\nPlace: Meet at the Des Moines library (library is closed until noon). 21620 11th Ave S\, Des Moines\, WA 98198\nWho: Walkers who are comfortable with moderate hills

DESCRIPTION:The Rotary Club of Des Moines & Normandy Park will welcome new Des Moines City Manager Katherine Caffrey as the guest speaker at its Wednesday\, Dec. 18\, 2024 meeting. \nThe meeting will be held Dec. 18 at Noon at Marina Mercantile (22341 Marine View Drive S.; map below). Visitors are invited to attend. Lunch items are available for purchase. \nCaffrey was sworn in as City Manager on Nov. 4. She brings almost 20 years of local government experience to Des Moines\, including municipal operations\, community engagement\, fiscal and strategic planning\, and redevelopment. Caffrey spent the last 17 years with the City of Cedar Park\, Texas and held various positions including deputy city manager. Prior to Cedar Park\, she began her career with the City of Little Rock\, Arkansas. \nAs the chief executive officer for the City of Des Moines\, Caffrey is responsible for the management of the City’s affairs and day-to-day operations. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Rotary Club of Des Moines & Normandy Park\n\n\n\nThe Rotary Club of Des Moines & Normandy Park is an association of men and women making our community and our world a better place to live\, learn\, work and play.  The Club meets weekly to socialize and learn about needs and issues. \nAll who live or work in Des Moines and Normandy Park are welcome to attend a meeting Wednesdays at noon at Marina Mercantile.
