DESCRIPTION:Residents looking to responsibly dispose of household items and recyclables can take advantage of the Des Moines Spring Recycling Collection Event on Saturday\, March 22\, 2025\, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Des Moines Marina (south lot). \n\nThis annual event provides an opportunity for community members to recycle a variety of materials that are not typically accepted in curbside bins. \nItems such as tires\, lead-acid batteries\, appliances\, scrap metal\, electronics\, and more will be collected. \nSome items require a cash-only disposal fee. \nAccepted Items Include:\n\nElectronics & Computer Equipment (printers/copiers: $5 fee)\nTV Sets (no charge)\nTires (up to 6 free; additional fees apply)\nLead-Acid Batteries (car\, truck\, marine\, motorcycle)\nAlkaline Batteries (standard household sizes)\nPropane Tanks ($10 fee)\nPorcelain Toilets & Sinks ($25 fee)\nAppliances & Scrap Metal (some fees apply)\nRefrigerators & Freezers ($35 fee)\nBulky Wood (logs\, branches\, plywood\, untreated wood)\nMattresses & Box Springs ($35 per item)\n\nItems not accepted at the event include household goods\, furniture\, garbage\, construction debris\, hazardous chemicals\, and motor oil. \nRain Barrel & Compost Bin Sale\nTo promote sustainable home practices\, the City of Des Moines will also offer rain barrels\, compost bins\, and worm bins for sale at the event for $25 each (cash only\, while supplies last). \nLocation & Event Details:\n\n📍 Des Moines Marina (22307 Dock Ave S\, Des Moines\, WA)\n🚗 Enter through the south lot entrance on South 227th Street\n⏳ No vehicle entry after 3 p.m.\n\nThe event is made possible through funding from the Washington State Department of Ecology\, King County Solid Waste Division\, Hazardous Waste Management Program\, and E-Cycle Washington.
