SUMMARY:Memorial service for racing legend Steve Huff set for Saturday\, Aug. 16 in Renton and Kent
DESCRIPTION:Friends\, family\, and former teammates will gather on Saturday\, Aug. 16\, 2025\, to honor the life and legacy of Steve Huff\, a respected\, world record-holding local racer and passionate supporter of trades education. \nA memorial service will be held Saturday\, Aug. 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at New Life Church in Renton\, followed by a public Celebration of Life from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Hydroplane and Raceboat Museum in Kent\, a location closely tied to Huff’s lifelong love for racing. \nAs we previously reported\, Huff sadly passed away May 21\, 2025 at the age of 58. In 2020\, he was diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic upper tract urothelial cancer\, a formidable challenge he faced with the same unwavering grit and determination that defined his life both on and off the racetrack. \nIn his own words: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n “In the years since my cancer diagnosis I finally became ‘the man I always wanted to be’ living with intention\, surrounded by love\, and giving back in every way I could.” \n\n\n\nGive to the Steve Huff Memorial Foundation\n\n\n\nIn lieu of flowers\, attendees are encouraged to contribute to the newly formed Steve Huff Memorial Foundation\, which will provide scholarships for students pursuing education in the trades\, a cause Huff championed throughout his life. \n“Thank you to all of the friends and former teammates that have reached out over the last few months. We appreciate your support\,” organizers wrote. \nHuff’s legacy includes not only a decorated career in racing but also years spent mentoring the next generation of mechanics\, fabricators\, and engineers. His commitment to accessible trades education earned him admiration and love far beyond the racetrack\, \nThe Hydroplane and Raceboat Museum invites all who knew Huff — and those touched by his story — to join in remembering his contributions and spirit. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMaps\nNew Life Church is located at 15711 152nd Ave SE\, Renton\, WA 98058: \n\nHydroplane & Race Boat Museum is located at 5917 S 196th St\, Kent\, WA 98032: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n EDITOR’S NOTE: Steve Huff was a steady\, strong and inspiring presence in South King County\, and it’s still difficult to grasp that he’s gone on to a better race. He is deeply missed by many. We look forward to gathering in remembrance\, sharing stories\, and honoring the legacy he leaves behind. Rest In Peace\, Brother!
