Let’s begin the month of September and enjoy the long\, holiday weekend by heading north from Burien Town Square into and around Chelsea Park. \nOther times we’ve found these scenic gems in the neighborhood: Dottie Harper Park\, Burien Community Garden\, white-painted tree trunks\, Bird-House House\, Stormwater Park\, Green House\, Purple House. What new things will we spot this time around? \nWHEN: Sunday\, Sept. 1\, 2019: 2 p.m. meet-up. Walking starts at 2:15 p.m. \nWHO: Walkers of every level and ability\, plus four-legged friends \nWHERE: Meet on the grassy knoll at Burien Town Square (480 SW 152nd Street Burien\, WA. at the corner of SW 152nd & 5th Place SW). \nDISTANCE: About 2.5 miles\, round trip. Mostly flat. \nPlease print out a copy of the map below if you’d like one as we’re walking. \n \n \nIntentions for Burien’s Walk-n-Talk: \n\n“Encourage active living to support physical and mental health.” (Part of Burien’s new “Vision”.)\nInitiate conversation between friends and neighbors\, new and old.\nNurture the idea of our Town Square as the “living room” of Burien\, our center and gathering place.\nCreate our own little “volksmarch“\, in the European tradition.\nSupport our local cafés and restaurants on Sunday afternoons.\n\nThe Walk-n-Talks are enjoyed by folks from different communities coming together for conversation… a chance to talk to people one wouldn’t otherwise have a chance to chat with and get some exercise and fresh air at the same time. DESCRIPTION:The next FREE Repair Café will be held at the Burien Library\, from 3 – 6 p.m. on Wednesday\, Sept. 4: \nBring your small household items including clothing and we’ll work on them! We want to keep stuff out of the landfill\, conserve resources and save you money. FREE to the public! \nYou must be present during the repair. Our experienced general “fixers” and sewing fixers will try to repair or mend your items\, and can often also give you useful advice. There are no guarantees an item can be fixed\, or that attempting to fix it won’t break it even more. \nPlease only bring items small enough to be easily carried in by one person. Do not bring any items that are leaking\, dangerous\, contain gasoline\, or have a strong odor. Clothing and other textiles you bring in for mending should be washed first. \nAll King County repair events are first-come\, first-served\, with no appointments or set times. But please contact us in advance if possible to let us know what you plan to bring\, so our fixers can be prepared.
