DESCRIPTION:Join in the ‘Running of the Flags’ by running\, walking or riding a Virtual 5K\, 10K\, Half Marathon\, Marathon\, or Ultra Marathon course of your choosing anywhere in south King County\, or heck – anywhere in the World – to celebrate our diverse and healthy communities. \nThis ongoing event will RUN (and walk\, ride\, etc.) from Saturday\, June 5 to Monday\, July 5\, 2021. \nDestination Des Moines\, Rotary Club of Des Moines and Normandy Park\, and Des Moines Legacy Foundation value diversity and celebrate the contributions of people\, regardless of their age\, ethnicity\, race\, color\, abilities\, religion\, socioeconomic status\, culture\, sex\, sexual orientation\, and gender identity. \nBe part of the celebration to unite our great communities of people! All proceeds of this event support Community Charities. \nHere are the Details: \n\n\n\nDATE: Run any day(s) between Saturday\, June 5 – Monday\, July 5\, 2021\nTIME: Race any time of day you choose\nDISTANCE: You can run or walk\, a 5k\, 10k\, half marathon\, or marathon (even an ultra-marathon is available!)\nPLACE: What’s your favorite course? You get to pick your location\n\n\n\nEntry Fees (fees are the same for all distances): \n\n\n\n$25 Adults (21-64)\n$20 Senior Citizens (65 and older)\n$20 Youth\, Teens\, Young Adults (under 21)\n$50 Family Team or Group (up to 4 runners)\nHonor System Scholarships Available\n\n\n\nOnline Registration runs from May 5- July 4\, 2021. \nEach registered participant receives a commemorative Running of the Flags Race Medal. \nPre-Race: Pick up your Running of the Flags Race Medal at any participating Marina District Business with the Running of the Flags Logo! Just show your registration receipt! \nThis is a virtual event. Everyone is welcome to join in. Run it. Walk it in one day or challenge yourself to complete an Ultra Marathon over multiple days! Race on a trail\, through your neighborhood\, take a walk along city sidewalks\, or visit the Des Moines waterfront! In fact\, if you visit our Marina District businesses you can receive rewards!  However you wish to cross the finish line is okay with us. DESCRIPTION:Des Moines’ SeaLife Response\, Rehabilitation and Research (aka SR3) and the Des Moines Police Department will be at the Farmers Market on Saturday\, July 17\, to provide marine-themed stuffed animals to help comfort children they encounter in crisis. \nCommunity members can join SR3 and the Des Moines Police Department at the Des Moines Farmers’ Market this Saturday\, July 17 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. \nSR3’s marine wildlife ambulance will be there with the stuffed animals inside for supporters to choose from and place inside a Des Moines Police Department car. \nThe proceeds from this event will go directly to work rescuing and protecting sick\, injured or entangled marine animals in the Pacific Northwest. \nWith every $30 donation\, supporters will be providing a stuffed animal to comfort a child and helping a marine animal in need\, too.
