DESCRIPTION:Community members are invited to support local families in need by donating food or funds during the annual food drive hosted by Owen Wright this Saturday\, Nov. 8\, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Auntie Irene’s in Des Moines (map below). \nAll donations will benefit the Des Moines Area Food Bank. \nThe drive will accept nonperishable food items\, as well as cash or checks made out to the Des Moines Food Bank. \nElectronic donations will not be accepted. \nOrganizers plan to deliver all collected items to the food bank immediately following the event. \nAccording to the event announcement\, Wright has organized the community food drive for more than five years. This year’s effort is taking place earlier than usual to help meet a growing need in the area. \nResidents are encouraged to “start your holidays by giving” and help provide meals for local families facing food insecurity.
