SUMMARY:Help Chart the Course for the City of Des Moines at Town Hall Meeting Tuesday night\, Dec. 9
DESCRIPTION:SPONSORED: \nHelp Chart the Course for the City of Des Moines\nThe City of Des Moines is inviting all Des Moines residents to help chart the course of their city’s future. \nThis fall\, the City began the process of developing a five-year strategic plan. A strategic plan is like a map to guide City decisions\, investments\, and services. It captures the community’s shared vision for the future and lays out goals and priorities to make that vision real. \nTown Hall Meeting – December 9\nCome together with neighbors and city leaders to talk about the future of Des Moines. Everyone is welcome. \n\n\n\nBuilt by the Community\, for the Community\nCommunity voice is the key to a strategic plan that works. The plan is not the City’s plan\, it is the community’s plan. The most important voices in this process are yours: what you care about\, what you want to see\, and what you think Des Moines should become. \nIn October\, the City hosted five focus groups where community members shared their ideas\, hopes and priorities. \nNow all residents are invited to complete a survey to share their thoughts. The survey link is being shared on the city website and Facebook page\, and through local schools and organizations. \nTake the survey now:\nhttps://survey.zohopublic.com/zs/SEDAhS\n\n\n\nThere are two other ways you can participate: \nPop-Up Input Sessions\nMembers of the Des Moines Citizens Advisory Board will be hosting informal feedback sessions. Look for these volunteers at community events and gathering places. \nHow Your Input Will Be Used\nAfter gathering community input\, the City Council and staff—working with an independent planning consultant—will build a framework of goals and strategies that reflect your priorities. \nThe City will share out the plan with the community\, and ultimately\, the City Council will vote to adopt the plan. \nTake part in Charting Our Course and help create the future you want for Des Moines. \n\n\n\n \nEDITOR’S NOTE: Sponsored Posts like this are paid\, “Native Advertisements” that help businesses and organizations improve their internet presence and all-important SEO. SUMMARY:WABI Burien’s annual Holiday Walk in Des Moines will be Saturday\, Dec. 13
DESCRIPTION:From our friends at WABI Burien: \nOur annual holiday walk will be a little earlier on Saturday\, Dec. 13 than our normal walk day so participants can check out the Des Moines shops and decorations along the walk before the holidays. \nWe’ll meet a few minutes before 11 am. this Saturday\, Dec. 13 at Big Catch Plaza (where the Dollar Tree store is located; map below) near the Big Catch sculpture in the parking lot. The address of the Dollar Tree store is 21815 Marine View Drive (intersection of S. 216th Street\, 7th Ave S. and Marine View Drive). \nWe’ll do this walk no matter what the weather\, so if it’s raining and you want to come\, we will be there. We’ll head south on the west side of Marine View Drive\, taking time to check out stores as we go. After we pass the Red Robin\, we’ll head up the hill to the Zenith Holland nursery\, where hopefully Santa will be waiting and can probably be persuaded to be in a group photo with us. The nursery and the gift shop are beautiful at this time of year\, and they are very dog-friendly! After we leave the nursery\, we’ll take a leisurely stroll north on the east side of Marine View Drive back to the starting point. \nThis walk is approximately 2 miles round trip on mostly flat paved surfaces. There’s only one hill going up to the nursery and we’ll take it slowly. Walkers of every level\, strollers and pets are welcome. \nIf you have any questions or need help finding us on the day of the walk\, please text Anna Martin at (206) 501-5726.
