DESCRIPTION:Families looking to celebrate Independence Day on the waterfront will have plenty of options when the City of Des Moines hosts its annual Stars\, Stripes & Sunshine event on Saturday\, July 4\, at Des Moines Marina and Beach Park. \nThe free community celebration will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and feature live music\, a farmers market\, food trucks and a variety of activities for all ages. \nOrganizers said attendees can celebrate the nation’s 250th birthday and enjoy arts and crafts\, bounce houses\, Gaga Ball\, tug of war\, a dunk tank\, photo booth and Robo Bots demonstrations. \nA beer garden also will be available for adults. \nThe event is designed as a family-friendly gathering along the city’s beautiful waterfront. \nCity organizers are encouraging residents and visitors to bring family and friends and kick off their 4th of July celebrations at the marina and beach park. \nAs we previously reported\, there will be no fireworks or drone show this year.

DESCRIPTION:From our friends at WABI Burien: \n\n\n\n\nOur July walk will be along a portion of the Des Moines Creek Trail.\nHere are the details: \nDate and Time: Saturday\, July 18\, meet a few minutes before 10:00 a.m. \nPlace: SeaTac Des Moines Creek Trailhead Park\, 20300 18th Ave S\, SeaTac WA 98198. This is a new park that has opened recently. If you are using Google for directions\, make sure you specify SeaTac rather than Des Moines. We’ll meet in the parking lot near the restrooms. \nParking: The park has a large parking lot\, restrooms\, and easy access to the trail. \nRoute and Distance: The wide\, paved trail goes through a forest and runs close to the creek most of the way. We’ll do an out and back loop that will be slightly downhill on the way out and slightly uphill on the way back. The walk will be at least two miles and walkers will have the option to go further than that if they like. If we walk the full length of the trail and back\, the total distance will be about four miles. \nNotes: This walk is good for walkers of all levels. There is plenty of room for everyone to spread out and walk at their own pace. DESCRIPTION:The Des Moines Arts Commission will bring six weeks of free live music to Des Moines Beach Park this summer with its 2026 Summer Concert Series\, beginning with Spike and the Impaler on Wednesday night\, July 15. \nConcerts will be held Wednesday evenings from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Des Moines Beach Park\, 22030 Cliff Ave. S. (map below). \nEach concert will feature live entertainment\, along with food trucks and a beer garden. \n\nOpens Wednesday\, July 15 with Spike and the Impalers\, a Northwest cover band that has performed for 25 years.\nWednesday\, July 22: Kitty Mae\, country cover band.\nWednesday\, July 29: Nite Wave\, featuring 1980s new wave music.\nWednesday\, Aug. 5: ABBAgraphs\, an ABBA tribute band.\nWednesday\, Aug. 12: Stevie and the Blue Flames\, harmonica blues.\nWednesday\, Aug. 19: Power of Love\, a Huey Lewis tribute band.\n\nAccording to the Des Moines Arts Commission\, the annual series offers a variety of musical styles\, ranging from country and blues to classic pop and rock tribute performances. \nAll concerts are FREE to attend.
