DESCRIPTION:From our friends at WABI Burien: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Des Moines Waterland Walkers will enjoy the August walk along part of the Green River Trail. \nDate and Time:\nWe’ll meet a few minutes before 10:00 a.m. on Saturday\, Aug. 22\, 2026. \nMeeting Place:\nThree Friends Fishing Hole in Kent (map below). \nDirections:\nThe closest address for the parking lot is 20025 Russell Road. The best way to get directions is to enter Three Friends Fishing Hole in your Google search. \nParking and Amenities:\nThere is a parking lot with room for about 30 cars. There are seasonal bathrooms at this location which are usually closed in the winter\, and there are also bathrooms at our turnaround destination. \nRoute Description and Distance:\nWe’ll walk south along the trail to Van Doren’s Landing Park\, which is a nice park with bathrooms\, a play area and picnic tables. The trail is wide\, paved and almost completely flat. It’s used by walkers and bicycle riders but never seems to be extremely busy. \nThe distance from Three Friends Fishing Hole to Van Doren’s Landing Park is about 1.6 miles\, so the total distance for the walk is about 3.2 miles. It’s an out and back walk\, so walkers are welcome to turn around at any point if they don’t want to walk the full distance. \nNotes:\nAll walkers and well-behaved four-legged friends are welcome. DESCRIPTION:The ABBAGraphs concert originally set for Aug. 5 but postponed because of poor air quality has been rescheduled for Tuesday\, Aug. 25\, at Des Moines Beach Park\, according to the City of Des Moines. \nThe free concert will run from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the park. \nCity officials noted that the rescheduled performance will take place on a Tuesday\, rather than the usual Wednesday night for the summer concert series. \nAttendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for the outdoor performance\, which will feature ABBA hits. \n\n\n\nThe ABBAgraphs are considered the Northwest’s Premier ABBA Tribute Band\, and according to their website: \n\n“Step into a glittery time warp with The ABBAgraphs—a show and experience that’s pure joy to watch!
