Second annual Des Moines ‘Back to School Resource Fair’ a huge success

On Thursday (Aug. 6), the Des Moines community held their second ‘Back to School Resource Fair’ where over 500 backpacks were distributed to students in need.

Superintendent Susan Enfield was there to greet families, along with principals from Des Moines, Parkside and North Hill Elementary and Pacific Middle School. Highline Public Schools representatives were also on hand to help students with transportation information, free and reduced lunch resources, online and mobile app information and early learning resources.

This event is organized by a coalition of Des Moines businesses, services, city government organizations and individuals. Highline Schools Foundation is proud to play a part in this wonderful event that helps get students and families the resources they need to start the school year.  The City of Des Moines is a critical partner in this community -wide effort – especially Des Moines Parks, Recreation & Senior Services.  The committee hopes to continue growing the fair by serving students attending Mount Rainier High School next year.
